“Children are made readers on the laps of their parents.” ― Emilie Buchwald

  1. The reason I chose this quote is because I read to my 2 year old almost every night if not every day. I have been reading to him since the time he was born. As he about to approach 3 years old on Christmas Eve, he is really beginning to love reading books. Our children mimics what adults do. If you read books, your child will learn to read. If you don't pick up a book, how do you expect your child to read or learn to love to read. I raise mostly by my grandparents. If they were not reading the newspaper or bible, they were reading a book. So by watching them, I picked up the love for reading and as an adult I love to read magazines, books, and even the newspaper. When I think about how the nation's is way behind in Reading and Literacy, I blame the parents because not only does education happens in school, it starts in the home (family).
